1. Product Stop-Loss

Do’s ✅

Don’ts ❌

Always start with a lenient rule and keep products in the recommendations list instead of removing them on day one.

Do not immediately remove products without monitoring their performance for at least 3 days.

Monitor the products that could potentially be removed before implementing the rule.

Do not assume that all low-performing products should be excluded right away.

Be mindful that stop-loss rules can impact topline revenue, as sometimes high-revenue products may get removed due to inefficiency.

Do not set strict stop-loss rules without understanding their impact on overall revenue and ad performance.

Consider allowing some inefficient products to run at a loss if they contribute significantly to overall topline revenue.

Do not let the system automatically remove products at the begining without close monitoring, as it may exclude valuable products based on the rules set.

2. Overlay / Catalogue Template

Do’s ✅

Don’ts ❌

Always check the preview by adding the SKU ID to ensure the overlay looks correct before applying.

Do not skip the preview step—it helps catch design issues early.

When applying an overlay for the first time, apply it to only one or two ads first.

Do not apply overlays across the entire account at once. This will push all ads into learning and impact performance.

Once an overlay is applied for the first time, you can change the frames in BigAtom without triggering learning again, as long as the catalogue template remains the same.

Try not to create a new catalogue template everytime and apply it to ads again—this will send ads back into learning. Instead, modify the existing linked catalogue template.

Slowly implement overlays across more ads after testing the impact on the initial ones.

Do not rush to apply overlays everywhere without monitoring performance.

3. Product Set Creation

Do’s ✅

Don’ts ❌

Start with one or two product set logics and monitor performance before scaling.

Do not shift the majority of the ad spend to a newly created product set immediately assuming that it only has efficient products & will immediately perform well—Meta still needs time to learn.

We recommend making changes in your ad account or pushing logics from BigAtom carefully and gradually to ensure there is no negative impact on the learning phase of your account. Abrupt changes, such as shifting budgets too quickly, applying overlays across all ads at once, or removing products immediately with stop-loss rules, can disrupt performance and impact results.

By following the best practices outlined in this guide, you can optimize your campaigns effectively while minimizing risks.
