Guide to creating Overlays

A step-by-step guide to creating and editing overlays in BigAtom

Step 1: Access Catalog Templates

  • Navigate to Catalog Templates in the sidebar.

  • Click on “Add New Overlay”.

Step 2: Create an Overlay Template

  • Assign a name to your template.

  • Click on “Create Overlay Variant” to begin designing the overlay.

Step 3: Configure the Overlay Variant

  • Assign a name to the overlay variant.

  • Go to Overlay Configuration and click on “Add” in the “Please select overlay” section.

  • Choose from various overlay types:

    • Image

    • Frame

    • Price

    • Strikethrough

    • Discount

    • Customized Templates

  • Click on “Choose Another Overlay” to add multiple overlays.

Step 4: Customize the Overlay

  • Select the second overlay and define its position.

  • Adjust the following settings:

    • Font type & color

    • Overlay shape, color, and size

    • Overlay position (X-axis & Y-axis offsets)

  • Use the Preview section to check how the overlay will appear.

  • Enter a specific SKU ID in the “Check with SKU ID” field to preview overlays for a particular product.

Step 5: Apply Rules to Overlays (Optional)

  • Set up rules to apply overlays to specific SKUs or categories.

  • Example: To apply an overlay to products in the Google Product Category “Kurta Sets”, set the condition as:

    • Google Product Category Equals Kurta Sets

  • If the overlay is for all products, skip the rules.

  • You can use any available catalog fields to set conditions.

Step 6: Add More Variants (Optional)

  • Click on “Create Another Overlay Variant” to add more variants.

  • Follow the same steps for each variant.

Step 7: Save the Overlay

  • Click “Save Overlay” for each variant.

  • Click “Save” at the bottom to finalize the overlay.

  • Your overlay has been successfully created!

Now that we have created the overlay, we need to assign the overlay to the ads for it to effectively reflect in the ads. Follow the steps in the documentation to assign overlays to your ads.

Editing an Overlay

  • Navigate to Catalog Templates.

  • Click on the Edit (Pencil) Icon.

  • Modify the overlay variants as needed.
